Summary

The Gig Workers Bill 2025 establishes a national legal framework regulating individuals who provide services through digital platforms (“gig workers”). It defines contractual relations between gig workers and contracting entities, prohibits unfair deductions, regulates payment timelines, ensures transparency in automated decision-making systems, and introduces occupational safety and health requirements. It also establishes a grievance mechanism and tribunal system, and extends social protection coverage to registered gig workers by reference to the Self-Employment Social Security Act 2017.
